It started with a sweater. Not just any sweater, but one that whispered magic, soft, minimal, and quietly enchanted. A simple, tan colored sweater with 5 small, neutral colored, ombre Mickey heads across the chest. That’s when I realized: there had to be more people like me. People who wanted to carry a bit of magic into their everyday lives without trading their personal style.
I’ve always had a deep connection to Disney. My earliest memory is of my parents taking my brother and I out of school early and driving us to Disneyland a couple times a year. I always knew where we were going because there was a very recognizable building on the way. It was my clue every time. I remember seeing Aladdin in theaters, completely mesmerized by Jasmine’s boldness and the feeling that I had found a piece of myself in her. I have the fondest memories of planning matching outfits for Grad Night (I won't tell you the year) and dancing the night away until the sun came up and we had to hop back on the bus and head back to our school. Now, as a mom, I get to relive that magic with my kids. And it hits differently seeing their eyes open wide when they see me in my Disney gear in their attendance office getting them out of school early, watching them fall in love with the same movies, laugh at the same characters, eat the same churros I used to.

My 13 year old son, Rasheed, is my Disney historian. No really... he can name the year EVERY movie was released and will absolutely argue with you about Scar being the best villain. He can tell you when rides debuted in each park, when they've been refurbished and when some of my favorites, like Captain EO, ceased operation. No surprise that he wants to be a Disney Imagineer when he grows up. He helps me research and brainstorm for the blog, and reminds me daily that Disney magic isn’t just about nostalgia, it’s about connection.
